Submission Terms
Last updated: 24/8/2026
Purpose of these Terms
These Submission Terms explain the conditions under which editorial materials may be submitted to Atlas Garden for consideration. They apply to projects, photographs, texts, drawings, videos and other materials submitted for editorial review and form part of the editorial framework governing submissions to Atlas Garden. They should be read together with our
Terms of Use.
Our Editorial Process
Atlas Garden is an independent, curated editorial publication. We publish projects and stories that contribute to the understanding of contemporary gardens, landscape architecture, outdoor living and the objects that shape exterior environments. Every submission is reviewed individually according to our editorial standards, including quality, originality, relevance, documentation and editorial value. Submission does not guarantee publication. Atlas Garden may accept, decline, postpone or archive a submission at its editorial discretion. Editorial decisions are independent and are not influenced by advertising, commercial relationships or external parties. We are generally unable to provide individual feedback on submissions.
1. Who May Submit
Material may be submitted by the author, copyright holder, photographer, designer, architect, landscape architect, public relations representative, publisher or another person authorised to act on behalf of the relevant rights holders. By submitting material, you confirm that you have the authority to make the submission and to grant the permissions described in these Terms. If you act on behalf of another person or organisation, you confirm that you have obtained the necessary permissions to do so.
2. Materials We Accept
Atlas Garden primarily publishes realised projects and original editorial content. Submissions may include photographs, drawings, plans, project descriptions, technical information, captions, credits, videos and other materials reasonably required for editorial review or publication. We may request additional information, higher-resolution files or other documentation where necessary. We do not ordinarily publish concepts, proposals or unbuilt work unless expressly stated otherwise.
3. Editorial Revisions
Atlas Garden may edit accepted material to improve clarity, consistency, accessibility and the reading experience. This may include copy editing, grammar and spelling corrections, restructuring, translation, image sequencing, captions, metadata, accessibility improvements, search optimisation and other reasonable editorial refinements. We will not intentionally alter the factual meaning or integrity of the original work. Where significant factual clarification is required, we may contact the submitting party before publication.
4. Contributor Responsibilities
By submitting material, you confirm that, to the best of your knowledge: the information provided is accurate; you have authority to submit the material; the material does not knowingly infringe the intellectual property or other rights of a third party; relevant contributors have been accurately identified; and necessary permissions for submission and publication have been obtained. If information relating to a published project subsequently changes, including authorship, copyright ownership, project details or credits, please inform Atlas Garden so that we may consider an appropriate update or correction.
5. Permission to Publish
Copyright and other intellectual property rights remain with their respective authors and rights holders unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing. By submitting material for editorial consideration, you grant Atlas Garden a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to review, reproduce, edit, publish, display, communicate and archive the material as part of its editorial activities. The licence covers publication through Atlas Garden's editorial channels, including the Website, newsletters and official social media accounts, and reasonable use of published material to promote Atlas Garden and its editorial publications. Atlas Garden may make reasonable editorial adaptations, including editing, formatting, translation, image sequencing, captions, metadata and accessibility adjustments, provided these do not intentionally alter the factual meaning or integrity of the original work. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the submitted material to Atlas Garden. Atlas Garden will not sell, sublicense or otherwise commercially exploit submitted material independently of its editorial publication without obtaining any additional permissions required from the relevant rights holder. Any use falling outside the scope of this licence will require the relevant rights holder's permission.
6. Credits & Attribution
Atlas Garden is committed to accurate and consistent attribution. Contributors are responsible for providing complete and accurate credit information. Atlas Garden will make reasonable efforts to publish credits correctly and to correct or update them when an error or omission is identified. Where authorship or ownership is disputed, Atlas Garden may postpone publication, amend credits or remove the material while the matter is reviewed. Nothing in these Terms transfers intellectual property ownership or affects the moral rights of authors or other rights holders under applicable law.
7. Editorial Standards
Atlas Garden retains full editorial independence and may develop its editorial standards and practices as the publication evolves. Publication should not be interpreted as a statement of a project's professional merit or quality. Atlas Garden may decline, postpone or remove content where it does not meet our editorial standards, where significant factual or legal concerns arise, or where continued publication would otherwise be inappropriate.
8. Withdrawal and Removal
A submission may be withdrawn at any time at the request of the contributor or relevant rights holder, whether before or after publication. Atlas Garden will handle withdrawal and removal requests in good faith and, where reasonably possible, remove the requested material within a reasonable period. Atlas Garden may also remove published material where required by law, where significant factual or legal concerns arise, or where continued publication would otherwise be inappropriate. Removal of published material does not affect any rights or obligations that arose before the removal.
9. Publication
Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, editorial publication on Atlas Garden is unpaid. Publication does not create an obligation to maintain, update or republish submitted material. Atlas Garden may update published material to correct factual inaccuracies, improve clarity, update links, revise metadata or maintain editorial consistency. Published material may remain part of the Atlas Garden editorial archive unless removed under these Terms or otherwise agreed with the relevant rights holder. Submission does not create a contractual obligation for Atlas Garden to publish the material or establish an ongoing editorial relationship.
10. Changes to these Terms
Atlas Garden may update these Submission Terms from time to time to reflect changes in editorial practice, applicable law or the development of the publication. The current version will be available on the Website with its latest revision date. Continued submission of editorial material after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
